About us

Welcome to the Welding Engineering group page. Our research focusses on resistance welding, arc welding, wire and arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) and process monitoring for welding processes. We also offer our expertise and equipment to (industrial) partners to help you in solving your welding-related problems.

Meet our team

News

  • The CELSA-project "Fundamental Study on Next Generation Multi-Material Wire-Arc Additive Manufacturing" got approved and will start on October 1st, 2021.
  • The proposed C2 project on grey box monitoring of resistance welding processes, a collaboration with the reliable and robust design goup, was approved.
  • Group member Angshuman Kapil was awarded a postdoctoral FWO fellowship. Read more about the project.

Master of Welding Engineering 

Our research group supports the master's programme "Advanced Master in Welding Engineering" on campus De Nayer, both through lectures as well as research in the framework of master's theses.

Succesful completion of this programme yields an academic degree and access to the oral examintion "International Welding Engineer" (IWE) by the International Institute of Welding (IIW).
