Building Coastal Resilience 2022
Our research group is organizing the very first conference on nature based solutions for coastal protection in Belgium! The conference will take place at KU Leuven Bruges Campus on 12 and 13 April 2022.
Research Chair Coastal Engineering
Friday, Februari 22nd 2019, at KU Leuven Bruges Campus, the inauguration of the research chair on coastal engineering took place. The port of Zeebrugge, together with 5 companies, invest to motivate teenagers for the studies of engineer and for a job in the sector of coastal engineering!
BONSAI: Boosting flood resilience in estuarine systems anticipating shifting climate zones

As of January 2025, our research group has taken part in the Interreg project BONSAI. BONSAI is an Interreg North-West Europe project where 17 organisations from four European countries work closely together to make flood defense systems more resilient against climate change.

Whithin the domain Civil Engineering, two research groups are active at the campus in Bruges: Coastal and Geotechnical Engineering and Recycon. Together with the research at the other KU Leuven campusses, we form part of the Hydraulics and Geotechnics Division of the Department of Civil Engineering.
