To foster innovation and technology to cope with future needs and sustainability within our FOOD4S ("food force") paradigm: Sustainable Food SystemS Science and Engineering.
BiFTec-FOOD4S adopts a transversal and multidisciplinary approach to a broad range of topics related to the 4S pillars Science (Food Science & Engineering Technology), Sustainability (Sustainable Food Product & Food Process Design), Safety (Food Safety & Quality), and Simulation (Computational Food Science & Technology).
A joint degree
The Consortium of the four European partner universities jointly have committed themselves to each offering part of the curriculum. Successful graduates are awarded a joint degree.

Associated partners
Additional to the four European consortium partners, the study programme also benefits from the involvement of associated partners, who contribute through knowledge and skills transfer, the provisions and backing possibilities for (optional) professional competence module and/or Master's thesis.

Structure
As of 2020-2021 the Master's programme consists of 90 ECTS taught modules and 30 ECTS Master's thesis project. Summer Professional Competence module is optional.

Career prospects
The European Master of Science in Sustainable Food Systems Engineering, Technology and Business (BiFTec-FOOD4S) general course aims are targeting on preparing competent employees for sectors including sustainable food production, processing and agribusiness, in industry, academia and government.
Approximately 90% of the graduates of the preceding SEFOTECH.NUT course run from 2006 till 2016 and BiFTeC course (2015-2020) are getting full employment resulting from an ample number of job applications and within a reasonable application time of six months. The academic level of the Master’s course is being proved by the ability of approximately 10% of graduates who continue their studies at third level making a PhD.
Information relating to individuals (personal data) is collected and used in accordance with the Regulation (EC) No 45/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2000 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by the Community institutions and bodies and on the free movement of such data, OJ L8 of 12.1.2001, p. 1.
The development of a joint curriculum for BIFTEC-FOOD4S programme took place during implementation of the previous projects: European Master of Food Science, Technology and Nutrition (SEFOTECH.NUT)
and European Master of Food Science, Technology and Business (BiFTec) run under Erasmus Mundus framework: 2005-2011, 2010-2016, and 2015-2020.
